Doing to much

Good Morning and a Happy Monday to you all.

Let's talk about the last several days. I have been MIA because baby boy has decided to challenge me a bit. I spent the better part of Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in bed with what the doctors call round ligament pain. Oh boy between the pain, nausea and lingering headache I had I was in for a ride. I didn't make it to work but did the best I could working from home. This pregnancy is definitely nothing like the first. I hope it gets better.

Brian left on Thursday for Idaho. His brother is planning to move there in May and they had a few houses lined up to look at. So I was left with little Ms. Averie to fend for ourselves. Pain and all. Thursday was tough. But...then.... GRAMMY came. Talk about a grandma in shining armor. She got me through the weekend, or at least until Saturday when Brian made it back home.

Let's start with Friday. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Cutest kid ever right! We didn't do anything, and I cheated and made soup for dinner.

Saturday, Averie and Grammy went to the Art Beast. This place is awesome. If you live in the Sacramento area you have to check it out.

It's a great place for kids to be artistic and social. Great combination for this kiddo. Look they are all wearing pink. Must be a GIRL THING!

Saturday I made Caprese Panini's for dinner. They were so delicious. When Daddy is away we go vegetarian. It's the only way!

Onto Sunday's festivities. Brian made it back Saturday night and we went out for a late dinner. Kind of an impromptu date night. Sunday morning I made a big breakfast. I am starting to feel a little better by this time. Grammy takes Averie with her to church on the Sunday's that she visits. So Brian and I did nothing. LITERALLY nothing. I think I might have vacuumed something. I am not sure. Once Grammy and the booger got back we headed out to do a little shopping, exploring, and a hospital tour. I didn't do a tour with Averie and thought since it was openly offered, why not?

We went to Kohl's did some shopping, then headed to the new Natural Food  Co-Op. I had tried to go here once before but the parking was a mess so I abandoned the plan. I really like this place. They have the largest selection of binned foods I have ever seen. Which I love. I don't like packaging. I like buying in bulk. Here is the link below. They also have a great selection of hot foods for an easy and quick lunch, or even dinner.

If you have never been, it is a lot like a Whole Foods. They even have cooking classes which I think would be fun for Brian and I to do. I have always wanted to learn how to make mozzarella.

Last on the agenda for Sunday was a Hospital Tour. Talk about a reality check. I can't believe I am going to do this again. Just myself, Grammy, and my Mom went so I took a few pics for Brian. Lucky for you all, I can share them. Like you care right. *laughs*

Waiting Room

The counter in the Birthing room where they bathe the baby

Self Explanatory

Desk/sitting area for visitors in the birthing room

Where baby boy will be cleaned and wrapped
That's the jist of what the weekend had in store. Unfortunately, because I did so much on Sunday my body felt very tired and weak, so sleeping was welcomed. Especially since I NEEDto make it to work this whole week.

Well, talk to you later all. I have purse cleaning, organizing, meal planning, and a shopping list to write. Oh and I have some work to do. *wink wink*

back to work and a weekend recap

Good Morning everyone! I hope y'all are ready for Monday. I am back to work and feeling pretty good. I am currently sorting through work emails, and drinking a large cup of coffee. There is something relaxing about being at work before everyone else and just going through the motions.

Let's recap on the weekend.

Saturday, Averie and I just hung around the house. I cleaned a lot, and we read books and played games, and of course watched cartoons. The rainy weather limits us, so we have to make do with inside activities. I made Averie tuna salad for lunch and we had a cupcake for dessert. Yummy right! Dinner was not planned, so Brian used the buy one get one Chipotle coupon we got in the mail last week. What a deal, I think he walked away paying 8 bucks for dinner for the three of us. STEAL! Then I planned my blogging for the week (applause), watched a little TV and off to bed we went.

Sunday was busy, busy. I woke up with Averie @ 5:30am, wait.... 6:30am. Time change is a stinker I tell you. I went to bed late on Saturday, so waking up at 6:30am meant I needed coffee, and lots of it.  I made breakfast, which we ate in the living room. Once the wave of breakfast ended and was cleaned up I gave Averie a bath.

Once we were dressed the day could begin. First stop Walmart for some necessities. Then back home to prep dinner, make Minestrone soup for the upcoming week, and organize our backpacks. I put Brian to work on hanging more pictures around the house, and cleaning out the garage. Things that have to get done eventually.

Averie and I read books late in the afternoon, and by golly she fell asleep. So what did I do..... funny you should ask. I relaxed for what seemed like hours, but really was only about 30 minutes. This is what happens when I relax. I snack and I watch television and read a magazine all at the same time. Just trying to fit it all in people. *laughs*

Later that evening my parents stopped by, and brought me flowers. I love when family visits. I love entertaining. I had made a lot of chicken for dinner so I invited them to stay. So we ate Teriyaki Chicken. I think they were impressed how good it looked and tasted. I guess they didn't know that I am not to shabby in the kitchen.
This recipe has been a staple in my rotation for months now. I think the sesame seeds and scallions make the dish. It just looks all fancy. It was nice to talk to my parents and catch up. I guess this is one perk of us living closer. Random drop-ins by loved ones. After my folks left, It was back to preparing for the week ahead. Meal planning, and finishing up laundry.

One Week Meal Plan:

Monday - Pork Tenderloin with Fingerling Potatoes
Tuesday - Fajitas
Thursday - Tortellini with Sauteed Zucchini
Friday - Pizza on Homemade dough

I have to say that the only reason I got into meal planning is because of my best friend Amber. This time last year I went to visit her in North Carolina and every week she would meal plan and then shop for the things that she would need. I thought to myself, what a great idea, and a time saver. To this day I love it when she texts me her meal plan for the week. It is also a great way to share recipes, which we also do. Actually the Minestrone recipe that I used over the weekend is one that she passed down to me. It is easy and delicious.

Well I think I covered everything that went on this past weekend plus some.

Have a great Monday everyone!

A Sinus Infection Sabbatical

It has been a while, and that is because I want on a sinus infection sabbatical. I have been miserable for the last 6 days with a sinus infection. Talk about pain. I don't think I have ever felt this way in my life. So instead of going into detail, instead I will try and show you what the weekend looked like from a sick persons point of view. Looking at the pictures below, I think I managed quite well. So what you will see is a combo of Insta-Friday photos, and well the weekend. I tried to juice up on antioxidants while at Trader Jo'es over the weekend. Obviously I am feeling no better, but maybe in the long run it will help.

Side note:

There are some things that you have to do because you are a mother or a wife, that you would rather not since you feel so crappy. But I had to stick it out. I stayed home Friday because I felt terrible, I mean on my death bed type terrible. But had to put a happy face on,  because on Saturday the family had to go to Brian's nephew's birthday party. I stayed inside most of the time. I know what a party pooper right. Then Sunday I spent relaxing and trying to rest. But... as a mother how much rest do you actually think I got. Your right, not much. So I then stayed home on Monday and Tuesday. I think it helped. Kinda. I am back at work on Wednesday and feel so horrible. I am trying my hardest to stick it out. But even as I sit here I am in so much pain. I have no idea what to do. I mean I am at a loss for how to make myself feel better.

Weekend Wrap-up

I was so tired this weekend that I did not get much done. Watched some TV, a movie or two and made my Cilantro Lime Chicken again. It was even better the second time around. The Family watched Footloose, it was decent, definitely a renter. Then the Hubby and I watched Crazy Stupid Love last night while we ate Hershey's candy bars. You would swear I am preggers, I have been craving chocolate big time. Never had cravings like this before for chocolate. So excited for the 4th of July. I am ready for some swimming, food, and great family. Those are three of my favorite things. The pictures above are kind of a mich mash of the things we did this weekend. They refect how little we did. *smiles* Those are the best kind of weekends right.
