Grammy's Birthday part 2

The plan for Saturday was for Thelma (Grammy's Best Friend) to arrive at my house in the afternoon. Did I mention that Grammy had no idea she was coming. I told her that she had to wait at the house until her birthday package arrived. It was perfect, but annoying to her I am sure. She was so surprised when there was a knock at the door and it was her best friend. I had also arranged 3 envelopes for her to open once Thelma arrived. The first envelope was tickets to see Cirque Du Soleil Varekai at Sleep Train Arena. The next envelope had a dinner gift certificate. The last envelope came with a bag of movies. Something to keep them entertained if they decided to hang out at the house for a bit.

Sunday we all went to dinner at Bistro 33 in Davis. The whole family was there. Mom, Dad, Jer Jer, Kerin, Alyssa, Grammy and Thelma. It was so much fun. I think that this was Grammy's favorite birthday to date.

Until next birthday Grammy. We all LOVE you!

Sailing Show in Oakland

Talk about a fun Saturday with my Husband. Man if all days could have been like this day. We dropped Averie off at my parents. Then headed to Oakland. Where beautiful weather awaited us.

Once we walked the mile from our car to the show, we quickly had to grab something to eat. I was so nervous eating before getting on the boat for a 4 hour sailing cruise. Cheese Gone Wild had the best Garlic fries I have had since the last San Diego Padres game. Yep I have the specifics memorized. The fries settled down just fast enough for the boat ride. No nauseous for this girl.

The scenery on this 4 hours cruise was amazing. The whole group had a blast. When we arrived back at the dock there was wine, cheese and crackers awaiting us. It was so nice. I definitely want to go back next year.

Brian and I got back really late so we stopped for a bite to eat at this cute little place. Then headed back to my parents to pick up the baby. Oh how I missed her. These trips always end the best when I am reunited with my baby girl.

Well until my next post.

Grammy's Birthday Part 1

Alright so Friday April 10th was Grammy's birthday. We started the day off with Lunch at Shari's with my Mom/Grammy's Daughter/Averie's Grandma. We made a stop at the Nugget and then back to the house. I made a yummy dinner of... no clue. I do know that it was special.

We made Grammy's birthday last all weekend. This was Friday's fun adventures. Saturday Brian and I had plans so I had to be cleaver about planning the next days festivities. She was so surprised, and I was so anxious for her to find out what I got her.

Mary Kay with the Family

I took a small hiatus but I am back. Back with all sorts of fun updates. Ready to be hounded with posts.

Grammy, my Mother, Kerin, Alyssa and I all went out to dinner and a Mary Kay party this month. We went to Tower Cafe and I had the spring rolls, not great. Luckily my Mom was nice enough to share her salad with me. It was so much fun, the bottle of wine might have helped. We had fun learning how to take care of our skin, and put makeup on properly at the party. We all got home really late, as soon as I walked into the house I was out.

Now it was time to get ready for Grammy's birthday.

Easter Adventures

Every year Easter is more and more exciting, because Averie becomes more and more animated and active.

We dyed eggs on Saturday to start off the festivities. We had a blast.

She was so funny. She realized that her hand was not the color it normally is and tried to lick off the green. Needless to say it didn't come off and her reaction was priceless.

This was after the egg dying. I am like WHAT! How did we stay that clean, and she wants to help clean up. A child after my own heart.

After the clean up, we went outside to play for a little bit. Averie pretended that the telescope was a microphone. Goofball.

I made a delicious dinner for the family to eat together, it was going to be Averie, Brian, Anessa, and myself. But.... things didn't work out that way. Brian worked late, Nessa showed up at about 6, and Averie was starving and pissed off cause Mommy wanted a nice sit down dinner with the whole family.

Instead, I fed Averie. Had to the kid was pissed. Anessa walked in about 15 minutes after Averie finished eating so I fed her next. We had pearled couscous, balsamic chicken and asparagus. Anessa liked her home cooked meal so much that she had a second plate. Which meant that mama didn't have any dinner. Brian came in at about 6:45-7 and that is when he ate. So, a dinner that we were supposed to have together could not have been more apart. Oh well. Brian and I dropped Anessa off at a play that she had to see for school, and we three grabbed a little dessert on the way home.

Sunday! Happy Easter! Here are a couple pictures of my lovey opening her Easter basket.

My Mom was sweet and made Averie a basket as well.

This is a picture of Anessa's last Easter basket. She tried to veto the decision, but Brian is right it is a lot of work to make the adults baskets every year. Not to mention expensive.

We ate a delicious brunch compliments of my Mama, and hung out with wonderful family. It is times like these that I look forward to. Now it is time to start a new week and make some more great memories.

New things I tried last week

I have tried a few new things in the past week and I thought I would share.

The first is this cold pressed juice that I got on sale at Safeway, called Good Foods Juice. It is new so I am sure that it will only be on sale for a little while before the price hikes up to 8 dollars a bottle, but in the mean time I figured I would give it a try. It was very good, strong sense of celery. I would recommend and would buy it again for a reasonable price.

The next new thing was these chips. Late July is a great brand so I thought that I would give the new Organic Sub Lime a try. I paired it with some Athenos hummus. It was a great combo. The hummus was no Boar's head (wink wink Amber) but it did the job. I would definitely buy the chips again. Maybe try another flavor of the hummus.

Last but not least, I made two new crock pot meals. Bruschetta chicken, and Balsamic chicken. Both were delicious, and I am putting on the rotation. We tend to rotate our meals. The go to's in our house are chicken cesar salad, spaghetti, cilantro lime chicken, and taco's. Not a lot right, so this is why the spike in new foods. I have added tomato/basil/mozzarella panini's, balsamic chicken, and bruschetta chicken. I plan on making more new stuff this week. Trying to expand our horizons, and make healthy changes.

Here is the bruschetta chicken prepped and ready to cook. Yummo! We ate it all up!

Fresno trip

We are just going trip crazy over here. The week before I left for North Carolina we went to San Diego, and then I was in North Carolina for a week, and then the following weekend we went to Fresno to watch some softball and visit with family. Even though we were busy it was all so much fun. I love hanging out with the Milton's. Averie got to visit with her cousin Jamie and splash around in the spa. Grammy has been taking her swimming once a week at Easter Seals, so she is very comfortable in the water these days. I can not wait for the summer to see her swim.

Look at those smiles
We also watched a little softball. I have to say I was more entertained watching Grandma and Averie play ball. Oops. Pretty clear from the pictures that softball was not my focus. This was Saturday's game and most of the family made it out to watch the game. Steven, Jamie, Grandma, and Grandpa all came to watch San Jose.

On the last day it was just the three of us. Mommy, Daddy, and Averie. Lucky for me they had a petting zoo in the outfield, so Averie and I made good use, and pet some of the bunnies, and a few miniature horses. They were all so soft and cuddly. I tried to wear Averie out for the long drive home. I am happy to report it worked. I got nothing but snoring on the 2 hr drive home. YAY!

After San Jose beat Fresno in the last game. We said hi and bye to sissy and got on the road. Until next time Fresno. Can't wait for our next visit with the Milton's.
