What a weekend!

Good Morning, I am having a hard time trying to figure out where to even start. How do I explain the whirlwind that was the last 4 days. I guess a day to day breakdown makes the most sense. If anything it will help me keeps my thoughts together.

Thursday, we had Averie's ENT appointment. Quickly let me explain something about UC Davis. They do things differently and if you are coming from another Medical Group you won't be familiar with their system. I made a hearing appointment for Thursday at 11:45am. I thought this was a hearing/ENT appointment. It was only the hearing exam. We were not scheduled to meet with a doctor on this day. With her old medical group it was all one appointment. In a panic I begged to meet with an ENT doctor. I knew Averie had an ear infection and needed to be seen. They fit us in thank goodness. Not only did I get a prescription for ear drops for her ear infection, but we scheduled her Auditory Brainstem Response test (ABR), sedated hearing exam, and tube replacement. It was a very productive trip. I am so glad that they were able to fit her in. Finally after months of being stuck we are moving forward. After Averie's appointment we headed out of town, to San Diego.

Friday, we spent most of the day at the field the weather was insane. Super hot and sunny out. The games weren't all that great. I mostly chased Averie around the field.

Saturday, was a lot of the same stuff. Hot weather, and softball. We did go to the beach on Saturday which was a lot of fun. I wish we could have stayed at the beach instead of watching softball. Next time we will have to make sure that we go to San Diego to spend the weekend doing fun stuff. NO Softball!

Then to the field to watch San Jose State play. We drank Icee's and lots of water. We even made a stop at Dairy Queen during the game break.

This was a terrible trip for food. It's funny cause I love taking pictures of food. Any food not just mine. The hubby is not so keen on me doing that. He gets embarrassed and prefers that I not snap shots while I am with him. So no pictures.

Sunday we headed back home. I have a lot of packing to do. Oh laundry, and cleaning. I am getting there slowly. I have one day of work and then I am off to North Carolina to see my other half. I am so excited and nervous. Flying makes me nervous, but seeing her makes me happy. I have the iPad charging, and my shoes all packed. I have a lot more to do when I get home tonight. More cleaning and more laundry.

Time to make more lists. That is what I do, even if I dont use them. *Smiles*

Another, I can't live without....Coffee

For Lauren & Lauren

I think that most people in my life know that I can't live without this. It has become something that I need every morning, and sometimes even in the afternoon. You guessed it COFFEE. I know it is not a thing, but a delicious beverage. I think it counts though. I linked up with For Lauren and Lauren and the Pursuit of Pink to discover what others can't live without either. It is so interesting to see what people feel that their day to day go to items are.

Let's talk about coffee. I like mine with a little vanilla soy milk and a pinch of sugar. I am a pro at making it just the way I like it, as I should be. If I go to a coffee place to buy coffee. Which I love doing. There is something in my brain that makes me think that coffee from a coffee place wakes me up better then homemade. I know I am crazy, but it feels like it does. I like ordering latte's with non-fat milk. The coffee joint down the street, Insight Coffee Roasters makes a killer latte. They also have vanilla soy which I am stoked about. Coffee is my jam people!

EmergenC fail

Good Morning, I made it into work today. That means that there will be a blog post. YAY! Unfortunately I am sick at work. Your welcome coworkers.

Let's talk about EmergenC. The last time I thought I was going to get a cold, I started taking the EmergenC every day until I thought I was in the clear. I know it worked because I felt a little sick for a day or two and then felt better. Where Brian was sick for a week and couldn't get out of bed. I was so happy that I managed to escape cold #1.

This time I started taking the EmergenC right as I felt like I was getting sick, and I could tell my body was fighting it. Then all of a sudden on Monday evening, I could tell my body was caving. Tuesday, I woke up sicker than a dog. It hit Averie at the same time. She was up at 3am coughing, and miserable. In turn, I stayed home on Tuesday, hoping that a day of sleeping and resting would assist in my getting over cold #2. It helped, but not like I thought it would. EmergenC oh how you disappointed me. I am still taking the EmergenC, along with massive amounts of green tea, and water. I am going to beat this thing in record time. watch out cold #2. With all these trips coming up I need to be on my game. I am going to rest for a couple of days and see if I can beat this, so there will probably not be a post for the next two days. I will definitely try and post on Saturday though. Wish me luck.

Food Update 3/9/15

Oh man, so I wrote this post once already and managed to screw it up and delete it. I don't know why I did this. I think I am just tired. Always tired. My original post was so much nicer than what I am going to write now. Oh well, I can't go back in time. Here we go.....

Breakfast: Coffee, DUH! This new place was a little bit of a walk, but well worth it.

Lunch: Andy Nguyen's. This is a vegetarian Vietnamese place.  I ordered the Patience Pho. Not my thing really. It had an overall sweet taste and I prefer savory.

We also ordered these fried spring rolls. I didn't ask what was in them. I figured that was the easiest way to try them. Guess what, it was really good.

Dinner: We had Chicken Cesar salad. No picture, because I am officially in the middle of a full on cold.

Let the games begin/Weekend snapshots

Good Morning, it is Monday and I am back at work. I guess you can't say I am working too hard cause here I am posting.

Day light savings has hit, and I am adjusting slowly. It is really nice that it is lighter later at night, but in the morning it is a struggle to get up and going when it is so dark outside. Once it warms up it won't be so difficult. Until then I guess I will struggle. Monday's are rough.

Let's wrap up the weekends events, and share a little bit of what is coming up. Saturday, I cleaned and Sunday I cleaned. Hmm... that wasn't hard. I guess I didn't do much. I did do some packing and organizing for the upcoming trips. Yes, I said trips. I am leaving for North Carolina in 8 days, but the weekend before I leave for NC. Yes, this weekend. Brian, Averie and I are going to San Diego for some softball. I can't complain too much cause we have not really traveled much to watch San Jose State play. I am going to be wiped out on Monday though. Talk about a busy girl. I have mentioned before that I like being busy, so I am not complaining too much. It's a good test to make sure that I don't forget to pack anything for NC. Here is my packing list so far for NC. I know this might seem strange, but I really don't want to forget anything.

Tricia's Packing List

Pajamas's-7
Pants- 7 (Let me explain, I only wear my pants once and then wash them. I know judge away, but I feel dirty if I wear them more than once.)
Blouses (StitchFix, and Gap, see this post)- 4
Shirts - 3
Sweaters- 4
Black Dress
White Tanks- 4
Coat
Scarf
Socks
Shoes - Brown Boots, Black pumps, and Uggs! (Wearing Uggs on the plane)
Panties (Obvious)
Flat Iron/Blow Dryer
Toiletries
Jewelry
Phone charger

Carry On: Purse and bag with laptop/iPad

Suggestions? I keep asking but I don't know that there is anyone out there reading. Is there something that I am missing. HELP?!

Now that my plea for help is out of the way. Whew! Let's talk about how I did not track what I ate this weekend. Why? you ask. Cause I ate horrible and was avoiding documenting evidence. I did try something new this weekend, and it was so good! Averie even ate it, and she never eats Mac and Cheese. I was at Raley's the other day and this was on sale. I normally buy the Annie's and thought I would give this one a whirl. It was so good. I definitely recommend trying it if you are lazy like me and make boxed mac ans cheese.

Horizon Organic Macaroni & Mild Cheddar Cheese, 6 Oz (Pack of 12)

What else happened this weekend that won't put my 5 readers to sleep on this slow Monday morning. It is slow isn't it. I mean it is only 8:12am here. Man I am in for a long day.

Okay so I guess I should stop diddle daddling and purge some pictures from the weekend.

There was some of this....

and a lot of this.....

Lots of these... (that is blueberry drool!)

Then some of this....

We played a lot this weekend. See you all tomorrow. Hopefully with a thought out, organized post.

Food Update 3/6/15

Good Morning, and welcome to my Food Journal. I have said it before and I will say it again. The best way for me to make sure I eat during the day, and eat healthy is to track it with posts. I have been thinking about going to school to be a Registered Dietician. I know that kind of came out of left field, but a while back I started reading this blog on Self.com called, "Eat Like Me". I loved the writer and still follow her personal blog to this day. She left Self Magazine a while back. She is an RD and was my inspiration for trying to do a little food  blogging. I would love to learn more about how to be an RD so I found this site, and am going to check it out. Maybe this is something that I will end up loving and enjoying.

What's the harm in looking right.

Here is my Food Journal for 3/6/15

Breakfast: Coffee and this Sambazon Protein Milk.

Lunch: Zia's sandwich. I get the Lucca: Turkey, prosciutto, monterrey jack , lettuce, tomato, and mustard. Yummo!

I also had some tea. I thought some green tea might help me fight off whatever cold I am getting.

Dinner:  Pizza and a lot of water (w/EmergenC). It is Friday Pizza day. Don't you know.

Busy Friday!

Good Morning, and it's Friday.

What that means for me is... I get off early today, it's my short day of the week. 7:30am-4:00pm instead of 7:00am to 4:30pm. Hey I know it's only an hour but that is something on a Friday. I will take it. The weekend is just a hop, skip, and a jump away. It's going to be another crazy cleaning weekend. I have to try out my new The Honest Company products. There are a couple of trips coming up soon, so I have some serious preparing to do. It is going to be busy, busy.

Update on my Food Journal. Yeah, um I totally forgot yesterday to take pictures of most of the things I ate and drank. I knew that some days I would just flat out forget. Here is the run down, very quickly.

Breakfast: Coffee, DUH!

Lunch:  Marie Calendar's Chicken pot pie, sparkling water, and some dried apple chips.

Dinner: Grilled cheese on wheat, and a glass of wine. Which I probably should not have had. I have been feeling a little under the weather lately. I might have been better off trading the wine for some juice. I did take some EmergenC. Fingers crossed that it does it job.

Late night: I had a snack of frozen blueberries and a tonic. Strange combo, but that is what I was in the mood for. Late nights make me crave weird things.

I will do better today is what I am telling myself. I am doing this for my own well being. This is my mantra for the next couple of weeks until I get used to taking pictures all the time.

Moving on. I am putting a lot into this post, cause yesterday I noticed that I posted 3 times, maybe it's a good idea to try and condense those into one long post. I am not sure. I am just flying by the set of my pants here. Suggestions?

I have been shopping a lot lately, and I just have to say that I need to get some control of this. Look at what I bought, too cute to pass up right. I got this tee at TomKatStudio.com. Use code Lucky20 to get 20 % off. The perfect St. Patty's day shirt, and since I will be traveling this will prevent anyone at the airport from pinching me. EEK!

luckyteetomkat

I also bought a bunch of stuff from GAP.com. I know that they don't need any endorsing but I am obsessed with the Factory store online. I mean whoever came up with that is genius. I am taking all of this with me to North Carolina. Plus a couple of other items that Stitch Fix sent me. I get to dress like a normal person for seven whole days. I might be lying a little. There are a lot of yoga pants in my future too.

Gap

As you can see I have done some damage, and well there is more to be done. Once I get to NC I am sure that some serious shopping will commence. What am I looking for when I am there? Well that is a great question. I am desperate for some sunglasses and jeans. Come to find out I am really picky about my jeans. The jeans that I have now from Old Navy are great but they fade at the knees. Why you ask? I have no clue. I bought a couple pairs of jeans from the Limited and they are just a tad bit big for me. So onward to seek out a proper fitting pair of jeans that are the perfect color. Amber and I will be on a mission.

The plan for this evening is to not shop.*smiles* I need to pick Averie up from daycare, grab a pizza for dinner, clean up a bit when I get home. You know, make the bed, empty the dishwasher, and straighten the living room. Then onto some laundry and playing with Averie until Dad gets home. Should be a pretty relaxing evening. I am ready for the weekend y'all. It has taken too many days to get here.

Honest Company and Zulily

I love it when companies partner up to provide a products for a great price. In this case The Honest Company and Zulily partnered up. I love both so it was a perfect match for me. I got my order in of Honest products yesterday, and I could not wait to open the box. Man The Honest Company would be a great sponsor to have.

I just have to point out that I paid 59 bucks for all of these products. That is an amazing value. I mean you can't beat that anywhere. What I got for that was, 3 Dish soaps, 2 packages of dishwasher pods, 3 multi Surface cleaners, and 3 hand soaps. I think that is a steal, and I didn't have to drive anywhere. Boom! 2 for the price of one.

I started using the dish soap last night. Sorry about the pictures. They were snapped very quickly cause I was mid dinner making.

I am trying to clean out my cleaning products. Sounds funny, but you would be surprised how bad the chemicals in cleaning products are for you. I could go on and on. Take a look for yourself.

The Honest Company Multi Surface Cleaner:
  • naturally fresh way to safely clean and remove dirt & buildup from virtually all surfaces and items in your home
  • Effectively penetrate and emulsify dirt, grease, oil, grime and tiny fingerprints
  • Only the fresh smell of grapefruit essential oil, and not harsh fumes
  • Repels dust naturally
  • No toxic residue left behind (unlike other glass & all-purpose cleaners)
  • Great for cleaning: kitchen countertops, high chairs, toys, walls, hardwood floors, painted surfaces, furniture, inside ovens, laminate, porcelain, granite, bathroom fixtures, wood, sealed stone, electronics, grills, decks & more!
  • No harsh chemicals (ever!)
  • Non-Toxic  Biodegradable  pH Balanced
    INGREDIENTS:
Purified Water, Sodium Coco Sulfate (Coconut-Based Cleanser), Caprylyl/Myristyl Glucoside (Plant-Based Cleanser), Phenoxyethanol (PH-Sensitive Preservative), Citrus Grandis Oil (N.O.P. Certified Organic Grapefruit Oil), PPG-4 Laureth/Myreth-5 (Coconut-Based Cleanser), Alcohol (Fermented From Corn Sugars), Methylisothiazolinone (Preservative)
It's great that The Honest Company explains to you what the words mean in the ingredients. I will have to try out the other products this weekend and get back to everyone how they work. You know I will be getting my clean on.

I can't live without....

If it weren't for Lauren and Lauren and Pursuit of Pink doing a LinkUp I would have never realized how much I depend on this pair of boots. They really are something that I can't live without.

I can't live without a lot of things. I mean don't we all have those necessities that we can not get through the day without. Here is one of mine.

I can't live without my Uggs. I wear them almost everyday. That's a joke, I wear them everyday. Who am I kidding. I would be lost without them. They are a crucial piece of my wardrobe. I am even wearing them today. They are super worn out, but that is because they are loved.

Where would I be every morning, if they weren't there in my closet waiting for me to grab them up. They are so cozy and warm in the mornings, and easy to slip on. It's a funny thing my Uggs.

12 days until North Carolina

Guess who I get to see in 12 days. MY BEST FRIEND. Finally thousands of years later after she moved from San Diego to North Carolina I am going to visit her. Talk about way overdue. I have been looking forward to this for months, well ever since the tickets were purchased. I can't wait to spend time with everyone. The babies especially. Sorry Joe. (That is her husband). They beat you out by a hair. Look at these faces, how could they not be something that I am looking forward to.

They just make you want to squeeze them. I really do feel for Mommy she has her hands full with these two. I mean 1 one year old is hard enough, but 2 one year old boys. Oh goodness.

There is one thing that I am a little nervous about. The weather. I am a California girl anything under 65 to me is cold. Look at the weather right now in Cary, NC. I think I might be in trouble. How do you pack for the east coast in the winter/spring. Help anyone! My fingers are crossed that the weather gets warmer in the next couple of weeks. Do you see 37 degree's for tomorrow, eek!

I am ready, who cares about the weather right. I will just stay inside. Which I plan on doing anyways. I just want to relax and chill with the family. It's a vacation for me no matter how you look at it. Taking off in 12 days.
