Fresno trip

We are just going trip crazy over here. The week before I left for North Carolina we went to San Diego, and then I was in North Carolina for a week, and then the following weekend we went to Fresno to watch some softball and visit with family. Even though we were busy it was all so much fun. I love hanging out with the Milton's. Averie got to visit with her cousin Jamie and splash around in the spa. Grammy has been taking her swimming once a week at Easter Seals, so she is very comfortable in the water these days. I can not wait for the summer to see her swim.

Jamie and Averie
Averie and Daddy in the spa
Look at those smiles
We also watched a little softball. I have to say I was more entertained watching Grandma and Averie play ball. Oops. Pretty clear from the pictures that softball was not my focus. This was Saturday's game and most of the family made it out to watch the game. Steven, Jamie, Grandma, and Grandpa all came to watch San Jose.

On the last day it was just the three of us. Mommy, Daddy, and Averie. Lucky for me they had a petting zoo in the outfield, so Averie and I made good use, and pet some of the bunnies, and a few miniature horses. They were all so soft and cuddly. I tried to wear Averie out for the long drive home. I am happy to report it worked. I got nothing but snoring on the 2 hr drive home. YAY!

After San Jose beat Fresno in the last game. We said hi and bye to sissy and got on the road. Until next time Fresno. Can't wait for our next visit with the Milton's.

The Season Begins for the final YEAR!

The softball season started off yesterday with Sheldon's first game against Consumes Oaks. I have a new work schedule so I was not able to be at most of the games. Brian was there, I am pretty sure everyone who knows my family could have assumed that. Some people are alcoholics, or addicted to drugs. My husband is addicted to softball. It pretty much rules our world. Well for the next 5 months at least, then Nessa is off to college, and he has to adjust to a different kind of world. Until then, High School ball has started and Anessa is a SENIOR. Sheldon won the game against Consumes Oaks 8-4. Not the best outing for them but they brought home the win. In the long run that is what counts. This video is of their opening chant, and every time I watch it I get teary eyed. Even though I have some resentment towards softball (a given considering how much it has consumed my life these past 6 years). I still get excited for the games to start, and choked up when they win. It is a kind of high that is indescribable.

I have a very negative outlook towards life lately, I was reading some of my older posts, and nothing seems to make me happy anymore. Which isn't true. Lots of things, and events make me happy. Like watching Nessa play softball. I think this year is just going to be one of those transition years, where I struggle a little to be happy. Which is okay. I knew last year going into this year that it would be that way. So if there is a negative undertone to the things I write about, just know that I am optimistic for the change that the end of the year will bring. Life will be different in the best way for me and my family. It is time that the focus shifts.

That's it for now. I have to get back to work. : ) By work I mean actual work and my life. Aren't they the same!

Going to the GAME!

Today is game day.

That's right, I have the Sheldon gear on, Averie's gear is on her dresser, the chicken is in the Crock pot for later, and the blankets are in my car. We are ready to go softball watching.

Last night when I got home, I had the opportunity to run, prep dinner, and get a little bit of cleaning done, this is all thanks to Grammy. She hung out for a bit while I tied up some loose ends. In turn, I was very organized this morning when I left for work. Day's like these are the ones I look forward to. I am very excited for the game later, and dinner.

This weekend is creeping up on me slowly. I could stand for it to come a little faster. Brian and Anessa are leaving on Saturday for LA. It is the first practice for the new Strike Force travel ball team. They are going to have a good time. While they are at the beach, playing and watching softball, and eating delicious food. I will be here, well actually I will be at my parents. Averie and I retreat to their house when the rest of the family is gone. Hopefully the hot weather holds up and we can go swimming. I had a beef with the weatherman yesterday. Yep that says 93 degrees on my car. I am thinking that me and him need to have a talk. 7 degrees is a lot. Especially when I dress based on the temperature.

Tomorrow is going to be a fun post. I have taken a ton of photos this week and plan on purging them all tomorrow. I still have to get my Nikon fixed, so I have been taking all my photos with my phone. I think I am a pretty good IPHONE photographer. *giggles*

Well I might post again tonight. I know that every one is sitting on pins and needles for this game later. Oh Tuesday's game. I almost forgot. Sheldon won 4-0. That was a huge win for us. We are that much closer to clinching a playoff spot. We have to win today, and we are in. I guess it would have helped if I explained why I am so excited for this game. I just assumed you all could read my mind. Wait you can't? *smiles*

Here is a brief update on my running too. It was really hot yesterday, but I did run. I might actually consider waking up early in the morning to run from now on. I know that sounds crazy, but the weather might be making this decision for me.

I can't believe I overslept!

I woke up this morning expecting to look at the clock and it be 6am, usually I wake up a little before my alarm and snooze a few more minutes before having to roll out of bed. Oh no not this time, it was 6:45am, oh crap! I normally wake up at 6:20am, that usually gives me enough time to do everything that I need to do before I leave at 6:45am. That's right LEAVE at 6:45am. I panicked, crammed as much as I could into my bag and headed out the door. Forgot to put deodorant on, pack a lunch, or clean up the mess from the night before. Let's just say that this morning is going to be long. It is game day on top of everything else. Sheldon plays PG, so everyone is intense and psyched. Oh and it is Alumni day. Could we possibly cram more into one day. I mean, come on. I am so overwhelmed.

Resolution to all of this. I don't have to make dinner. It is Alumni day, so we are having a BBQ. Crisis averted there. I can go home after work and change into my Sheldon gear, because it is Tuesday and I don't have to rush to get to the game on Tuesday's. Thank goodness. I borrowed my moms deodorant. *laughs* I am going to have to grab something to eat on my break. I was trying not to spend money, but I guess this is just the effects of running late. I left Grammy with a ton of stuff to clean. Sorry Grammy. I love you to bunches. So as you can see it is pretty much covered. I think I might be able to take a deep breath. Onto some exciting things.

I wanted to talk about some plans that I am looking forward to this summer. It is going to be a busy one. I can't oversleep through this for sure.

1. Getting a little bit of healthy color. Wear sunscreen folks.

2. Camping at Brighton Beach with the Kaylor Family.

3. Kerin's (my aunt) 50th birthday at Disneyland. Just us girls are going, we are going to have so much fun, I can't wait.

4. Softball!!!! Lot's and Lot's of softball.

5. Averie talking, she is so close. I think this summer is going to be a great turning point for her. We have to get out of the couple of word rut sometime. Her signing it on point though.

6. Swimming, and BBQ's with family. This is one of my Favorite pastimes.

7. My 30th birthday, that we might spend is San Diego, one of my favorite cities ever!

8. The start of Nessa's Senior year, and the beginning of the end of her living in my house.

9. Averie growing up into such a big girl. Teaching her how to swim this summer! Feeding her fresh veggies, from my garden too!

10.  Lastly, lots of good food, friends, and family. The very best part about summer is making memories with the ones I love most.

Finally, I did go on a run yesterday after days of slacking. I was pretty irritated when I left so it was a short run, but at least I ran. I exerted way to much energy way too early so that resulted in a 3/4 mile run.

It's here again

It is here again, the weekend that is. Man how I look forward to them. Although at the same time being so bittersweet. I hate for them to end. My hubby said he was going to try and clean more today, so I am super excited to come home and start the weekend. I love it when he helps. It makes for a good start.

Update on running, it has been sporadic, but it is happening. I have not ran 3 miles since my last race. That's is not to say that I am not able, I am just struggling to find the time. Here are my last two runs since The Running of the Elk on Sunday. My plan is to run again today. I am looking at getting in at least 2.5 miles.

The Huskies won their game against Folsom yesterday 18-1. Nessa hit a GRAND SLAM! It was so much fun to watch. I am glad that I decided to go.

We were all decked out in our Sheldon gear. We are so dorky, but so COOL!!

We also got a sneak peak of Nessa's softball photo's this year. Isn't she pretty. She is such a ham, and very photogenic.

My running has become contagious. One of the other Mother's heard that I was going to run in the Susan G Komen 5K race, and immediately wanted to do it with me. Then she said her daughter would want to run as well. Her daughter is on the softball team. From there it grew. Now we have involved the whole Varsity softball team. Sorry guys. *smiles*

If you want to make a donation to our team, you can find us under "Sheldon Softball Chicks." We ROCK! I know. I am so excited for my second 5K. This is going to be so much fun.

Well, I hope everyone has a great weekend! I know I will.

Friday, and we are OFF again

We are off again this weekend. EAT, SLEEP, BREATHE softball, that is the name of the game people. Brian got home really late last night. I feel like I have not seen him in forever. He is leaving after I get up and doesn't get home until the time I go to sleep. I have missed him to say the least. I was trying really hard last night to stay up to see him so I got  me one of these. You guessed it. STARBUCKS. It was a necessity, I swear. *wink wink*

With this baby in my veins, I was able to finish the laundry, pack, make myself a little something to eat, and play with my boo boo. I had planned on a run, but there was a shooting down the street, so that pretty much ruled out my run. I don't know much about what happened. I do know that I locked all the doors and stayed inside for the rest of the night. I do not even live in a bad neighborhood. I really am baffled by the world we live in these days. I have no explanation as to why these things happen. What are people thinking? Or are they not thinking and that is the culprit.

So instead of running I took 100 pictures of this beauty, okay maybe 10.

I am so lucky for her to be my daughter. I mean everyday I get to look at her gorgeous face.

That brings us to this morning, I was in kind of a rush. Not bad, but enough to keep me on my toes. I had a bunch of stuff to grab, but couldn't because I knew it would wake either the boo boo, or the hubby. So I tried to keep things quiet, and tip toed out. I will have to leave packing Averie's things in the hands of my husband. I have done this once before and it was not awful, but there were things missed. Nobody packs like Mama. the plan is to leave right after I get off of work. He will pick me up and off we will go.

I did acquire a pair of the cutest shoes. Salt Water sandals. I have them in my bag ready to be put on my little ones feet. I bought these and another pair, that were left in my car. *boo boo lip* But they are white with little heart cut outs, they are not the same style. They are a 2 strap sandal. I cannot wait to put her in either pair.

I think that is the rundown of my evening and morning, check back tomorrow for a run update. I have to map a path in Livermore that is roughly 3 miles. Should be a challenge. Hopefully I can get Shelly to run with me. Muah hahaha.

Crash, Bang, BOOM!

It is going to be a long day downtown for this girl. I am just now getting to work at 8:30am. A whole hour past my actual start time. I have a large accident to thank for this. A big rig crashed into the center divide on the freeway, holding up traffic for 5 miles. Apparently the freeway went down to two lanes. In the morning when I hear that, I know I'm in trouble. What this really means for all of us commuter's is hours of waiting, and staring at brake lights. My mother and I decided to try and avoid it by going around. I am not sure that was worth it, but here I sit ready (kinda) to work. It is going to be a really long day, have I said that already. The rain is not helping my case here either.

Onto something a little more entertaining, exciting to me at least. My run yesterday was fantastic. I ran with Shelly and had so much fun. It is awesome to run with someone. It makes the time fly as well as the laps. Getting pretty pumped for Sunday too. Here I come Running of the Elk. Woot-woot!! I do admit that I am still concerned about the full 3.1 miles, but I am confident that once I am in a groove I will be fine. There is nothing like a finish line to motivate me. I know that is psycho, but it is the truth.

Nessa's high school tournament starts today, they have a game at 5pm, and 7pm. Which means......wait for it.....I am home alone until about 10pm. Yahoo! I love it when it is quiet and I can just sit on the couch and watch my "crap" TV. For those of you that don't know what I mean by that. "Crap" TV is what Brian calls, all of the Real Housewives shows, SMASH, GLEE, all the shows I enjoy watching. I use these moments when they are both away to indulge. I love me some Rachel Zoe, Guiliana and Bill, and Big Rich Texas. Man I can't wait to get home. *laughing*

I also have Cilantro Lime Chicken in the crock pot. Man it is going to be a good evening. Complete turn around from the morning for sure.

Now I am off to read a couple of my favorite blogs. Dinner a Love Story, Skinny Chick Blog, and eatingRD. I don't really have much else planned for the day. I might work a little. I got a lot done yesterday thanks to Grammy. I went to the bank, store, and picked up Nessa from school. I think I might have one stop on the way home today, but that's not to shabby.

See ya....

Easter FUN!

Happy Easter Everyone! The whole family went over to my Mom and Dad's for Easter this year. We had a very large brunch, and an Easter egg hunt. It was so much fun. We also managed to sit down for a few and watch the Hobbit. Man those "Lord of the Ring" type movies are rough to watch, and by that I mean they are way out there in left field. I just don't think they are my speed at all. Easter all in all was a lot of fun, for the kids and the adults. Look how HAPPY! We really did have a great time. Thanks Mom and Dad.

Brian and I also went to the Sac State vs. CAL game on Saturday. It was a lot of fun.  I ate my nacho in peace. We dropped Averie off at my Mother in Law's so we could watch the game, instead of chase a two year old around during the entire game.

Onto the week......

This week is really busy. Nessa has a game today, I have to make a couple of stops on the way home before heading to the game. Then Thursday the team starts a three day tournament in Livermore. Then Sunday is my big race. I am so nervous. I am really not where I want to be to run it, but I am going to hit it hard this week and see if I can at least get 2.5 miles down comfortably. I know that the Running of the Elk is a 5K, I think I can manage if I at least get 2.5 down. I ran/walked 2.8 yesterday. I am really excited about the race, just nervous too. Oh, you know what else gets me psyched about running. New gear. See my new running capri's. YAY!

Well, I have a lot of work this morning, and it is going to be a busy,  busy day so I better get organized. Otherwise I am going to want to hurt someone by the end of today.

Get up the Gusto!

I have an addiction. Hello my name is Tricia and I am addicted to running. I could not bring myself to rest yesterday, so I ran. It was a short run, only 1.39 miles. That is what my app friend told me. The plan was to run on the track at the High school, but it was closed. Sucks lollipops for sure. Instead I ran to the school, through the school, and back home. I have another run planned today with Shelly, this one will be on the track. Fingers crossed that it is open. I am hoping for 2 miles on the track this time. We will see if she has the gusto to do it. It feels so good to run, that sometimes I just don't want to stop. I want to push myself harder. This runs photo is pretty funny. I was trying my best not to look too goofy on the side of the road snapping photos.

Run #4
Status on the Sheldon vs. PG game: We lost, 1 to 4. We had the lead for the first 4 innings and then all of a sudden PG had our number. They had a few good hits off of our pitcher, and that was that. Too bad this was not the turning point for getting our groove back. Kind of makes me not want to watch them. It is so sad to see all of the dropped faces at the end of the game. I did have fun getting my spirit wear on, and getting snacks.

The plan for this weekend is this....
1. San Jose State Softball game on Saturday(there is a lot of prep for Averie that goes into leaving for even one day), and "Girls Night In".
2. Relaxing and gardening on Sunday, oh and I have to get a run in.

I am going to apologize in advance for yesterday's meals. I think you are all really going to laugh at me.

Yes that is a trash picture. I had a Subway sandwich, and taking a picture was an after thought. That is better then not taking a picture at all, cue dinner. I had a slice of pizza and a couple of crazy bread sticks. I guess that means that tonight we have to eat better. Usually we reserve Friday's for pizza.

****edited to include the most important meal of the day.****

Happy World Down Syndrome Day

Today is a very special day, it is World Down Syndrome Day. I am a proud mommy of a beautiful little girl with DS. You know what is ironic about her having DS. I don't think about it until I see other fellow bloggers, blogging about it. She is developing quite nicely, and does not have even one major medical condition. She has a lazy left eye, but other than that her health is perfect. I have said in previous posts that I have a lazy eye too, so the kid was destined to have something wrong with her eyes.

I have recently contacted a few other mothers that have children with DS, and it is really great to have someone to talk to. My husband is so busy that I have to keep up on the latest developments myself. How to get her into the best preschool, what therapies are available. You know all that good stuff. I want her to be one of the popular kids with DS. *smiles* I actually have my first event this weekend. It is called, "Girls Night In." It is this Saturday and I am so excited to go. We leave the kiddos at home for this one, so the mommies can get in some much needed me time.

If anyone out there even has any questions or just needs someone to talk to. I am here. I know in the beginning it was difficult to wrap my head around having a child with DS. In the end, I would not have it any other way. She is truly the love of my life. I would give the world for her. Feel free to pick my brain. Here is a picture of my Love bug, just because it is my blog and I can.

Running.... Oh my new love! I ran yesterday at the track with Shelly. We ran a mile on the track, and I ran there so I totaled 2.05 miles. I was not even out of breath at the end. I will admit it is much easier to run on the track than it is on pavement. I felt like I was able to breath more consistently. Here is what my run looked like. Courtesy of my new app. If I haven't mentioned how much I love it, let me say it again. I love this app. Can you tell where the track is on the GPS?

A very attractive Run #3

In addition to being excited about my app, there is also something else new in my life that I am excited about.

Wait for it.......

My new Camelbak and Gatorade. Why would anyone buy any other water bottle, you know this has a lifetime warranty right. I bought the Gatorade because the bottles are WAY too sweet. This way I can make it as sweet as I want. Ready for some randomness. Yes maam, I just made that word up. (I think).

Nessa has a game today, take a look at her team! They look sharp right. Here is hoping they play sharp today. They have been struggling to find their groove the last few games.

Last but not least, this is what yesterday's meals looked like. I am seeing a trend in my eating habits. I don't eat meals, I eat a lot of snacks. They are healthy snacks but snacks none the less.

Missing is dinner, I am having some memory issues with the dinner photo. I had rice and ginger sesame chicken. I think Averie ate most of my chicken, but I got a few bites in there. I also had a glass of Sangria. I thought I deserved it.
